packardbaker:

Plan A: Redesign the Lincoln Premier chassis with Packard’s torsion-level suspension to create the new 1957 Packard.

*Lincoln pulls out of the deal at the last minute.

Plan B: Redesign Studebaker’s upcoming full size platform for a new Packard.

*No bank or investor would give the company a loan to put that platform into production.

Plan C: You have two months and 0 cash! Just take the ancient mid-size Studebaker and dress it up a bit!

*It was a nice Studebaker, but too small and cheap for a Packard. Sales of the “PackardBaker” were dismal; only 4,809 were sold in 1957.
